Greetings Patriots!

Welcome to the website of the Peter Sides Chapter (formerly the Waco Chapter) of the Sons of the American Revolution.

We're looking forward to a great year in 2024. Like last year, we're working toward increasing our membership, as well as our involvement with DAR and other community events. We're continuing to feature our members Revolutionary War ancestors in Minuteman Moments. And we're recognizing the service provided by our members who have served in the military, as well as those who provide assistance and support to our country's veterans on an on-going basis.

Chapter meetings are open to all chapter and visiting Compatriots, prospective members, guests, and interested public, and are held in September, November, January, March, and May. They are usually scheduled on the third Saturday of the month, but may be moved due to room availability. The president may call additional meetings at his discretion. Coffee and a light snack are provided.

We encourage the flying of the flag, not only on national holidays, but also in remembrance of historical events. Click the following link for a document that contains a list of suggested fly-the-flag days.

Gravesite Decoration - Setting Out and Retrieval of the Flags

DATES:

• Saturday, May 25, 2024 - gravesite decoration
• Saturday, June 1, 2024 - flag retrieval and Chapter meeting

• Address: 3201 S 12th St., Waco 76706 (south of the Oakwood Cemetery)


• Location of the War Veterans Section: After you enter the cemetery, take the road to the right, which goes past the office building. Stay to the right and continue to the area that is marked with a flag pole and military service marble emblems at the flag pole. (map)


• Parking: It is okay to park along the road within the cemetery at the veterans section. If possible, please try to avoiding parking on the grass.

2024 meeting dates:

• January 20 from 10-12 at the West Waco Library
• March 2 from 10-12 at the West Waco Library (confirmed)
• May 25 after decoration of Veteran section gravesites at Rosemound Cemetery
• September 21 from 10-12 at Central Christian Church, Fireside Room
• November 16 (in conjunction with flag retrieval at the Rosemound Cemetery)
